When I start my 2007 1.8 tdci with 180k miles you can sometimes hear few seconds of chain rattle, presumably before tensioner fills up with oil, you can also hear chain rattle sometimes when coming of the accelerator paddle quickly and also when turning off the engine (as if the chain was stretched).
An electrical fault in the Turbocharger control circuit. MAP sensor electrical failure. Inspect connectors for signs of damage, water ingress, corrosion, etc. If the code is set at idle renew the turbocharger. 1. The possible blocked pipe may now have split, although the fuel consumption seems fine. 2. It's just some excess diesel from the leak residing on the drip tray/floor of car under engine bay. I'm going to get hold of some torx keys to remove the under tray and clean it.
My '06 Focus 1.8 TDCi has developed some power issues. It has now stopped 3 times, and needs a wait of between 5 - 10 minutes before it will start again. I took it to a garage, hoping they would run diagnostics, but they couldn't find anything (I don't believe they ever did full diagnostic) Pre ignition, the normal battery , oil and handbrake
3. Using some fine sand paper or fine wire wool clean up the face of the EGR pipe and the inlet manifold. 4. Place the new gasket onto the pipe, line it up carefully and bend the locating tabs into place. 5. Bend the pipe back into position. 6. Slide the blanking plate between the pipe and inlet manifold.
Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi - Running problems - white smoke and no power - DC7904 : It's definitley white, there is plety of deisel getting through to the injectors (altough i have no way oof testing this).It ticks over fine but when the accelorator is pressed it goes haywire and seems to be unable to rev smoothly.
