Realtek changed driver formats or driver structure to using modern DCH based drivers a few years ago on most modern boards from MSI and other motherboard makers and no longer use the traditional or standard (or non-DCH or non-UAD) driver format in most cases. DCH based Realtek audio drivers use the Realtek Audio Control or Realtek Audio Console Personally I've found the Sound Blaster Z to be better only because its headphone surround sound software to be superior than any other implementation I've used. Basically if I go into the console and click the surround right speaker the sound will come from the front right, and the surround left comes through the front left. So basically all audio comes out of the front speakers output. Sound comes through the front speakers as normal when the respective L/R speaker icon is selected in the console. Got this sorted - couldn't have been easier. Decided to take the plunge despite not knowing if it worked and bought a PC specific 5.1 surround sound system; the Logitech Z506. On the rear for 6 channel audio it only had 3 standard 3.5mm audio jacks (which was a promising start since that was how I had surmised it must work with my motherboard). HD sound is enabled in BIOS, but I don't think I have the option for the type of port selection. I'll try updating my BIOS and see how that goes. I've also tried mixing and matching/disabling and enabling different audio drivers but none seem to work. EDIT: BIOS updated, looks exactly the same. Sound still doesn't work or detect anything.
